IMA Salt Skimmer Mackerelish
19th Jul 2014
The hard to find IMA Salt Skimmer is unique among hard plastic topwater stickbaits in that the Skimmer has a slender body that has proven to be one of the most appealing bass lure shapes ever.
The IMA Skimmer is kinda in its own category. It looks like most other walking baits, but it doesn't push water, it cuts through the water. Water flows over its back and creates a swirl right behind it every time you jerk it. Most other walking baits push water and splash but the Skimmer actually creates a swirl behind it. If you look at the Skimmer on videos or when you're working it, you may mistakenly think that fish are swirling at it and that is exactly what it does, it creates the idea, the impression that a fish is trying to eat it and hopfully that results in competitive behavior.
So why is a lure as popular as the IMA Salt Skimmer so hard to find? I appears that IMA just hasn’t gotten around to producing any. The freshwater version is in such high demand by freshwater bass fishermen in the US that IMA’s Skimmer production runs are busy satisfying their demand.
So next time you blank and didn't have an IMA Salt Skimmer in the box. Blame the Americans.
