South Coast Lure Fishing for Bass
Posted by Lure Fishing for Bass on 19th Jul 2014
Ten of us headed to the mouth of an estuary first thing in the pursuit of bass. It was an early start just before low tide. Not the best time to start fishing but a good opportunity to understand how the winter storms had altered the structure at this mark.
One of the more dedicated lure fishers connected with the following mullet on a lure. As you can see this wasn't foul hooked, it had hunted the lure down.
We followed the tide in, hoping to intercept a few early bass heading into the estuary. The bass didn't seem in a rush and we didn't hook up.
Once the tidal flow started really rushing in people started hitting bass. Soft weighted white bass lures drifted in the flow out fished everything else. The IMA Sasuke also produced bass.
No one wants to leave fish but the tide pushed them off in the end.
