Duo Tide Minnow – Sinking

The sinking Tide Minnow’s from Duo are fast becoming a favourite for deeper water. They may have a similar running depth as there sister floating minnow’s but if cast and left at rest they will steadily sink much deeper, I count them down, say starting at 5 seconds and increasing by another 5 seconds until I find the depth that gets me a hit. If you get a hit or a hook up you can then repeat the same countdown and hopefully get into a few more. It’s worth remembering that if you just crank it in, yes it’s action is still good, but it will move up in the water column to it’s natuaral running depth, alternatively a very slow steady retrieve or a jerk based retrieve with plenty of stops and you can maintain the depth you want.

Firstly there is Duo Tide Minnow SLD-S (SLD-S stands for Slim Long Distance Sinking) in the 145mm size, these plugs cast really well and have an extreme rolling action. Then there is the Duo Tide Minnow Slim 175 Flyer, these are large and heavy and really cut through the wind, they are stable in a rough sea and strong current and have a similar rolling action.

When there’s a big swell, a rough sea and strong wind fishing for bass with plugs can be hard, though in these conditions the Duo Tide Minnow sinking plugs excel. I think they are a valuable addition to your lure box but remember if your fishing over rough ground don’t let it sink to far!
