Has Summer arrived

May 21, 2010

Out again this evening for an evening session with Tony and Graham, I think this is the first time this year that it was actually warm, the wind didn’t have that bitting chill to it and the forecast for the weekend looks even warmer. We hadn’t been fishing for too long and I got a hit on the Gataride, this fish put up a good scrap with lots of kiting runs, certainly a very fit fish and being hooked in the mouth and gill plate was able to dive away, I didn’t bother weighing her but at a guess about three and a half pounds maybe pushing four.

So expectations where fairly high for the rest of the session, we moved along the rocks and Graham got a hit, I watched as his rod bent over into a lovely curve, this looked like a good fish but with some violent head shakes was gone, not deterred, it wasn’t long before Graham had another hit and landed the pristine little fellow below.

Despite what seemed to be great conditions it just didn’t materialise into a session to remember. That said it’s always a pleasure to catch bass, whatever the size and I was pleased to continue the little run of success I’m enjoying.

Cheers Harold, it’s taken a while to get going in the UK too, quite a few fish around now though.
