A few fish in Dorset

May 31, 2010

Decided to meet up with Mark down on the Dorset coast Friday night for a spot of rock hopping. The fishing started a bit slow despite me picking up a schoolie on the third chuck.

Not to be put off Mark knew where to try and as darkness started to fall and the ebb had just started to push, we positioned ourselves on a couple of boulders about 20 feet from each other ready to intercept a few. Well what can I say we had a frantic hour getting lots of hits and managing to land nine fish in total.

Mark with a nice 6lb 4oz bass which was the biggest for the evening, we thought for a moment that he’d hit a monster, the sound of the line being ripped from the spool against the drag whilst seeing the rod pulled over into a nice curve is what it’s all about, that and having a good laugh, which we certainly did.

Most of the fish where in the class above, around the 4lb mark, so good sport and all where fighting hard

First bass of the session, it’s always nice to get one early, it prooves there are fish around and confidence is defiantly boosted.
