Well, I haven't tried this yet in the full heat of battle, but have just mounted a Penn 3000 reel on it and tried it out on dry land (got my teenage son to hold onto the pointy end) and I am pretty sure this is going to be a winner. Extraordinary value for money. My particular use is from a boat in relatively shallow water but very fast tides so not too dissimilar from shore fishing for bass. I carry 6 rods on the boat with easy access, I think this is going to be my go to rod for when I see birds working the surface and need a fast casting small lure (metal or soft plastic) at short notice for school bass, which here can be a bit more than schoolies and up to 5lbs or so. I'll post more when I have actually caught a fish on it, but from the shore I am so far, delighted with it. My view so far... does what it says on the tin, great value.
