Gamakatsu Assist 58 Double

Gamakatsu Assist 58 Double, size 1/0 and 2/0

Assist hooks come as singles and doubles, they work great for additional hooking points on lures, below I’ve attached a Gamakatsu Assist 58 Double 2/0 to the front hook point on a Duo Press Bait HD. These really can make the difference between just getting a hit and actually hooking into a bass.

    Hi,

    Super sharp photos! what size lure is that shown, I’m assuming its 100-125mm long? Have you tried this type of rig on smaller lures 50-75mm with smaller hooks?

    Hi Nick

    Your right the Duo Press Bait HD comes in 85, 105 & 125mm and the Duo Press Bait Kamuy comes in 110mm. I haven’t tried on anything smaller yet, you may have trouble finding pre-rigged assist setups like this in a much smaller size though.

    Hi Adrian,
    Thanks for the reply, I thought the pre-rigged assists in small sizes might be a problem. I started out trying to get ‘single lure hooks’ to replace the trebles on some of my lures. I have some Japanese market Daiwa Presso minnows (50mm) which are supplied with trebles and a spare set of barbless single hooks. As I C&R anything I catch, I like the idea of binning the trebles in favour of barbless singles.
    I haven’t located any single lure hooks in the UK, so started thinking about assist hooks, and having seen how effective they look on your lure I’m going make up some assists with smaller hooks. I found a “how to make DIY assist hooks” online!

    Hello Adrian,

    thank you for the great photos. Could you please tell us what the single assist hook on the back of the Duo Press Bait Kamuy (in the second photo)? I’m planning to use something similar on shout dangan and maria mucho lucir jigs. Thanks in advance.

    I’m afraid I’m not sure, that’s what comes supplied on the rear of the Press Bait.
