Valkyrie Bass Lure Fishing Charter

Posted by Lure Fishing for Bass on 6th Nov 2016

We headed out on Valkyrie Charters for the first time to target bass on a big tide.  A 13lb bass and a few 10lb+ got caught and released.  Most of the angers had experience bass lure fishing from boats be we still learnt a few things from the captain.

Finding a good charter boat for modern lure fishing using lures such as Nitro Shads, Fiiish Black Minnows or Fiiish Crazy Sandeels is still hard going in 2016.  We found Wight Huntress but the skipper went commercial, then Rob Thomson, but he sold his boat.  We asked Rob for a recommendation as he gave us Valkyrie out of Hayling Island.  We tied a trip with Glen on Valkyrie and I'm happy to say we found a new open minded skipper.

What makes a good charter skipper for modern bass lure fishing:

  1. The skipper knows where the bass should be at different states of the tide.
  2. If the bass aren't there then a good skipper will be prepared to burn more full and move to a new spot.
  3. Having a charter captain that's open to new methods.  No we don't want to switch no bait on the anchor thanks.

The bass below and most of the others got caught by casting away from the boat not jigging below it.

Five double hooks ups during the day.

We usually like shore or small boat fishing, but it's good to get out with a full time charter captain and a group of other lure anglers. It's still the best way to expedite your learning.

We will be organising more trips with Valkyrie in 2017 so if you're interested in hearing about dates please message us at https://www.facebook.com/lurefishingforbass/ or via the contact form
