About

Welcome to Lure Fishing for Bass (specifically European Seabass, Dicentrarchus labrax). Lure fishing is a mobile, light tackle form of fishing, no heavy gear needed, just a rod and reel, some lures and an ambition to get out onto the coastline and a willingness to put in the effort to locate your quarry.

Bass are found all around the coast of the UK but are particularly concentrated on the south and south west coast, the UK season for catching bass, from the shore, generally runs from April to November although it is posable to catch them all year round. In the rest of Europe particular areas stand out for bass fishing, Ireland has some of the best bass fishing on offer, France seems to be leading the way in modern techniques and tackle, Portugal has some great coast line and even further south Moroco, though not part of Europe, has great bass fishing.

This site will hopefully prove to be a valuable resource for anyone keen on lure fishing for bass, whether your an expert or a beginner. Apart from reporting on my own fishing exploits, you’ll find reviews of lures, in-particular plugs and soft plastics, where I’ll try to describe methods of fishing them that have worked for me. In time I’ll add information and reviews of other tackle that is of use to the bass fisherman and techniques, how to’s and general tips.

When not fishing or thinking of fishing, I run a Graphic Design company and apart from design for print and web, photography is becoming a bigger part of my business and recreational life. Bass are brilliant fish to photograph, their silver flanks reflect their environment and the locations that you find yourself in, whilst in the pursuit of bass, offer some stunning scenery.
