Xorus Patchinko, colour: Silver Black

When describing / reviewing lures people will invariably make the comment “casts like a bullet” well the Xorus Patchinko for it’s weight and length will out cast those pretenders, more than that though is it’s true flight which makes it very easy to cast accurately which can be a great advantage on certain ground.

It’s action is essentially a walk the dog and this is achieved very easily with little jerks of the wrist with a bit of a wind on the reel, the tip of the rod going in a sort of circle. That makes it sound a lot harder than it is. If you give it a tiny jerk you will see it dart to one side, give it another tiny jerk and it will dart back the other way, now speed that up a bit whilst winding and it comes to life.

At rest it floats head up in a strike inducing fashion, it’s a versatile top water lure that works and is a proven bass magnet and can be used in quite rough conditions, in very calm conditions slow things down.

Model: Patchinko II   Manufacturer: Xorus

Tony a good mate of mine has been having a bad time with the lures, it would seem every time I go fishing without him I catch and when he does come with me either I catch or worse still (for me) we both blank. So as we set off today, I knew thoughts of the lonely walk back along the shore having blanked again and the return home to be questioned by friends and family as to why he bothered would be running through his head.

We arrived at a mark on the Kent coast and conditions looked great, yes because of the tides we where going to be fishing in the middle of the day but the sea had some movement, was clear and for a change there was very little wind. First lure on was the Feedshallow and within a few casts I had a follow and a few more casts resulted in a 36cm Bass. The quick start didn’t materialize into anything special so we pushed along the rocks.
